Otavite & Rosasite (Ref: 347)

Tsumeb Mine | Tsumeb | Otjikoto Region | Namibia
93mm x 43mm x 26mm
$7628 *
Wow, what a great specimen,- a super old-timed piece of extremely rare cadmium carbonate Otavite, typically accompanied by botryoidal blue-green Rosasite. This fact gives this outstanding specimen a super contrast, blaze of colour and aesthetics, unusual good for the species. Here you see glistening cream-white microcrystals richly covering the COMPLETE obviously Smithsonite bearing matrix. Otavite was firstly discovered at Tsumeb by Otto Schneider in 1906 and named after the Otavi Highlands. I have seen several ´so-called´ Otavites over years. After analysis, most of them turned out to be just strange looking Aragaonite or what ever. But this specimens is analysed as well and turned out as real Otavite. This is a killer piece all the way, SUPERRARE and probably among the finest analysed ones at all.
