Fluorite, Sphalerite, Calcite & Baryte from Illinois (Ref: OU20-ANNAB)

Anabel Lee Mine, Harris Creek Dist., Illinois, USA
140mm x 73mm x 54mm
$750
At first glance you might assume this is a purple fluorite & sphalerite specimen from the Elmwood Mine in Tennessee because it looks very familiar. However, this one is actually from the Annabel Lee mine in Illinois, and the giveaway is the Baryte. There is a patch of tabular barite blades near the middle of the specimen (which look like teeth), and that's how we know it is from Illinois. Tennessee baryte combos are botryoidal. Anyway, this is an excellent specimen which is from the Ex. Ray Berry Collection (#1791). The purple fluorite cubes cover the front face of the sphalerite host. They are deep, saturated purple, but still very translucent with visible zoning. Speckled on the fluorite are tiny Calcite crystals along with some additional Baryte crystals. The fluorite crystal cubes are ~1.6cm.
