Beryl (variety aquamarine) with Albite (Ref: MTL87AP3)

Shigar Valley, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas)  Pakistan
49mm x 10mm x 14mm
$317 *
Beryl crystal (aquamarine variety) that displays a highly developed prism with dipyramid faces truncated by the pinacoid. In the upper central part of the crystal, two growth rings perpendicular to the prism can be seen. The aquamarine crystal has a uniform blue-green color and is lustrous and translucent. The termination of the crystal is very curious as it is formed by a multitude of very fine fibrous crystals that make it totally opaque if we look vertically down at the crystal from the top. It is partially embedded in a matrix of snow-white Albite crystals.
From a classic locality for this species.
